Thank you for the update.  It's a complex matter not made any easier by the Chinese connection.   If the buyer [who clearly does not know 10% about fossils] has opened a "not as described case" then the simple answer is that you refund.  It is almost certainly pointless on cost grounds to try and get it back from China.  As a business seller you are - in any event - required to accept returns.  I'd guess you will think it is a matter of principle but you have an excellent reputation and little harm would be done.  As to the feedback it certainly can be removed though usually the seller sends a feedback revision request to the buyer [well that's not going to work].   The CS reps seem to have jsut given "scripted" answers.  What they mean is they "won't" remove it.

There really is no point in pressing it.  I would be very doubtful as to whether you will ever get anywhere and it would be best simply to move on.  People suggest suing eBay although we have never heard of any success!  It's an interesting question as to where eBay is based for service of documents and the like and in which country the court would hear it.  Luxembourg perhaps?.  What you can do about the feedback is to write a response in measured terms as you have explained it to me.  Do not be abusive [obviously] do not mention such words as "EBay""refund" "case" and so on

I doubt if you can and I doubt if - in any event - it would help.

If you tell us a bit more what has gone wrong we can advise.  It may seem counterintuitive but you very rarely need to speak to ebay and can deal wwith it yourself.

Many of us here have great experience!
