Good Afternoon.
I wonder if anybody could please offer me some advice, I sold an item to a buyer and the buyer is now claiming that the item has been throwing up error codes and consequently left me negative feedback however eBay did not accept I had to return the item so the buyer obviously has the item.
I contacted the buyer to explain how to use the item correctly and to explain what the code on the interface actually meant, the item was an eco-technics revolution digital fan speed controller and it was displaying the message E 16 PH a which is actually the manufacturers cose for the chip that is inside the unit so it denotes that the chip was manufactured in 2016 and is the pH a chip, I tried to contact the buyer with no look I then sent another message asking them to revise the feedback explaining that they were mistaken, it was not an error code it was a manufacturing court I pointed the buyer in the direction of the user manual and I thought that would resolve the problem.
The buyer has now left me negative feedback telling people to avoid as I am a scammer, I have great pride in the fact that I am honest and I would never consider selling an item to someone that did not work, I contacted the manufacturer to clarify what the E16 PHA code meant and they confirmed it is not a record it is simply an identification code for the chip, the buyer has failed to respond to any of my messages and eBay have completely ignored the fact that this is not on a record, I am not a scammer and I would like to get the feedback revised or removed but I cannot get eBay to even listen to me.
I have no alternative but to leave a response to the negative feedback to let other people know that the buyer was confusing a manufacturing code with an error code, I am upset that the buyer is called me a scammer as I am quite clearly not, I was very proud of my 100% feedback and unfortunately because the buyer couldn't be bothered to read a user manual I am now 99.4% although still a good score I would have preferred to remain at 100%, is there anything I can do to try and remedy the situation, the buyer will not answer my messages eBay have not replied to my request to have the feedback revised removed
Thanks for taking the time to read this
Regards
David
You have two grounds to try to get the neg removed -
Masked profanity – it's clear what “f” stands for..
Defamation and use this request -
Ebay's excuse is that it is the buyers opinion. Trying to explain to Ebay CS would be as bad as trying to explain to a buyer who is incapable of understanding a perfectly reasonable explanation.
This is one of the risks of selling on ebay, far too many buyers are incapable of understanding that they are in the wrong.
You can leave FOLLOW UP FEEDBACK, BUT do not leave feedback as negative comments can be removed and you would get a policy violation.
Just leave follow up feedback which goes under the sellers comment, I suggest something like "Buyer does not understand that it is not a scam but a manufacturing code."
There is a limit to the number of letters you can use but try to fit in something along the lines of what I have suggested. At least it is polite, I could think of other words to describe buyer.
Add Buyer to Blocked Bidders list.
The buyer opens a dispute for not as described and you have to deal with it by sending a pre paid label for the return. It is how you deal with it
There is nothing in that feedback that ebay would remove.
Do not leave a negative comment on a green dot as if you do the buyer could get that removed and you get a black mark on your account
Sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers so there is no red dot.
You could try and sort it out with the buyer and then see if they will revise the feedback
