minimum bid verses minimum price in description

hi, I'm bidding on an item with a minimum bid as stated on the item's page. but, in the description a note is made that if the bidding does not reach a certain minimum (a lot different than the official minimum starting bid) then there will be no sale. surely if someone wants a minimum amount for the item that is what the official minimum starting bid shoud be. not an artificial one. where will i stand if i'm the only bidder and my official bid is no where near their desired bid? may thanks, Gary

Is that feedback as a buyer or seller though?

If you win, pay. Let the seller learn the hard way how to sell on ebay.

If they then won't post. just open a Not Received Case to get a refund, and leave negative feedback, just say "Woud not honour the sale" and mark down the stars.

If seller just refunds don't worry about a case, the seller will learn that it is expensive failing to honour a sale with Full Ebay fees and Paypal fees to pay.

Your seller doesn't know the rules.

If they want a minimum price for the item they should either 1) start the listing at this price, or 2) set a reserve price. EBay charges fees for both.

They are not allowed to start the listing at a ridiculously cheap price, and say in the description that there is a minimum price to sell.

Bid, by all means, but what will probably happen is that they wil refuse to sell it. They may then cancel the auction. You can leave appropriate feedback about their unwillingness to sell for the winning bid. EBay will charge them fees on the price the item sold for.

I imagine this is a fairly new seller. If they don't learn the rules, they will soon be banned from selling.

You will win the item but are highly unlikely to actually get it. Sounds like a novice seller.

is there a reserve set?
