I am fairly new to ''item not received'' process , I have a deadline for the 28th July to resolve the case, the item has been lost in the post and I had re posted back out to the customer , I am sure it will reach the customer before the 28th July but my question is , if the reposted item does not get to the customer by the 28th July does the case automatically get closed in favour of the buyer , I have sent them the new tracking number via ''send message'' in the case details, what's the best way to resolve this without it going against my account please.

The buyer would have the option to escalate whether the replacement had arrived or not.
When a case is opened it is really best to refund, as that closes the case and no more problems. Buyer can then buy again.
Sending a replacement still leaves you open to having to refund and leaving buyer with two items and the money, and you won't get a refund of the selling fee.
The new tracking number will not prove anything to ebay, so as I say you could still end up being stuffed.
