If you received the item in February, you are too late to open a case on eBay, but you may still be in time to open a case in PayPal if you paid that way. You have 180 days (about 6 months) from the date of payment to do that.

Be aware though that neither eBay nor PayPal offers any kind of warranty.

The eBay and PayPal Guarantees apply to the item as received, not months later.

You may have difficulty convincing PayPal that the item was always defective.

You may also have to send the item back by tracked postage at your expense.

Beyond that, your contract is with the seller directly.

Trading Standards or Citizens Advice may help you if the seller is a business seller in the U.K.
