gifting a friend

Jambo, my name is Jane and i live in Nairobi Kenya. I have a friend living in the UK and i would like to gift them something on their birthday.

What are the terms and conditions on purchasing an item from my country via ebay and have that same item delivered to my friend living in the UK?

Hi Jane

You can't add an address in a different country to your PayPal account.

What you can do is add your friend's UK address to your eBay account, then when browsing for the gift, make it your primary delivery address.

That way, you'll be shown postal costs as they apply for delivery to your friend.

When you've selected your item, complete checkout in the normal manner, you'll see your friend's UK address is pre-selected. That's the address that will appear on the PayPal payment notification the seller sees.

Select add another address, fill in her name and details, then click save. You'll be asked if you want to make it your primary delivery address - if you're going to buy the present now then click yes, if you're not, then simply make it your primary address before you start browsing for the item in question.

It would be very difficuly as your accopunt is registered in Kenya.,.......that means no matter what delivery address you specify eBay will see it as an overseas sale.......most sellers on eBay UK would not sell to a Kenyan account

You might be able to make the purchase but then AS PART OF THE EBAY CHECKOUT you would have needed to add the UK Friends address to your Paypal........you cannot6 message a seller to request they send to a different address than that supplied by Paypal with your payment

I think it would in the end,  be easier for you to buy the item from www.ebay.com site,  receive it,  and then post it to your friend in the UK.

Make double sure the seller posts to Kenya beofre bidding or buying.

Or the OP could just buy it and have it delivered straight to their friend in the UK after adding the friend's address to their eBay addresses as a primary address (they can't add it to PayPal because it's a cross border transaction) and then select the friend's address at checkout.

The OP will see a domestic postage price and will be able to purchase.
