exploding battery

i brought a battery from ebay that literally exploded in my face, ambulance and fire had to attend and i receive minor burns plus showered in battery acid and red hot plastic, after this it proceeded to set fire to my car. melting plastics until i used the hose to put it out. what should i do regarding this as i cant see any way to message ebay should i just seek legal action? many thanks

All you can do on ebay is to open a dispute for not as described depending when you bought it

You have 30 days to open a dispute

You will need to take legal action

Where did you buy the item?

If it was a business  seller in the Uk then you may be lucky

If it is a seller overseas then there would probably be nothing you can do

If it was from overseas then they are ofter not of good quality fake or even dangerous

It is not the first time members have come on here with problems like this.

it was purchased last july but when i purchased it i thought it was from a uk seller as it stated on the ad uk seller, i have since gone back to the add and it still states uk seller but also says they are based in china on there store but they are registered for gb vat so i searched the vat number which goes to an address in london. im ok slightly burnt, missing eyebrows eye lashes ect and rather shaken up as it went off like a bomb 5/6 times

I am sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. A battery from China explains it all. They can be very dangerous. Some do have wharehouses in the Uk but there are others that mis represent their address and although they have UK on the listing they are in China. Even being registered for VAt is not a guarantee that you would get anywhere with a claim. We had one case on here this last week where a Chinese seller had used a perfectly genuine seller from the Uk business address and Vat no.Of course you do have to try and it may save someone else suffering the same problem

al least i know to go with the genuine make from now on lol i think its quite bad they represent them selfs as being from the uk but are not, they avoid all our safety barriers as a buyers and ebay need to do something to stop this. its lucky i was holding the charger and not the actual battery as i have no doubt i would be hand/fingerless right now. i will try and report this to trading standards as these batteries are clearly not safe, thank you for your kind words and help.

Ebay does have a policy for mis representation of address and if found out will remove members. The case I mentioned the seller was removed from ebay and 2,000 listings with them. It is a continuing problem.

As a warning to others you shoud leave Negative feedback,and also seek legal advice.

The most you can get on ebay is Money Back nothing at all for damage and injury to yourself. That is where you will need to take legal action but that will only work if seller is in the UK.
