I dont know why you should be fuming

Ebays fees are there for all to see but you have to read and you did not seem to have read the terms and conditions of the Free listings offer. How can that be ebays fault

It may be Free to List if you have any Freelstings in your Promotional Section

Every private seller gets 1000 Free each month

Once your item sells then you pay final value fees

Charges are added to your ebay account as soon as they are made

The listing fees are charged when you list and the final value fees as soon as the item sells.

Always check just before you Submit your listing as it tells you how much you will be charged for listing.

If you add any upgrades like a reserve or buy it now and others then they are chargeable whether they sell or not.

FREE TO LIST..........NOYT TO SELL !!

You are luckly not to have been banned already for price gouging....£22 for a £4.50 box pf Sheba cat food !!

That means eBay do not charge their 35p per advert business sellers are charged

• When you sell an item on eBay you pay TWO companies

• First is Paypal who make a charge of 2.9% + 30p of the total amount paid. This is because when selling goods you become a merchant & the banks & card companies charge merchant fees on sales & Paypal charge for banking & transfer of those fees once received (These fees are nothing to do with eBay & would be charged on any monies received into Paypal for goods & services inc Gumtree, Shpock etc)

• Paypal take their fees before they credit the funds to your Paypal account

• Second you pay eBay the sales commission (Final Value Fee) on the transaction.....this is charged at 10% of the total sale price inc P&P as well as the fees for any optional extras like reserves, Buy Now etc

• The eBay fee is billed once a month either mid month to mid month or start of the month to the end of the month.

• The eBay final value fee fee is often split into two parts....the first is on the item price which is charged as soon as the item ends

• If the item is to be posted then the fee on the P&P is not charged until after the buyer pays (as they may choose a premium service or to collect in person)

Why on earth did you think it would be free to sell on ebay? Did you think ebay were a charity who allow you to use their platform out of the gooness of their hearts?

They give you a platform and find you a buyer. Why would you think they'd do that for nothing?

Maybe ebay isn't for you and you've perhaps done the right thing ending your listings.

I expect ebay will be fuming when they realise all the NEW items you are selling, which makes you Business Seller and avoiding paying Business Fees.

You are not entitled to ANY Free Listing.

how on earth is it a scam?

you used ebay to sell things so you have to pay the fees for doing so

it said 'free to list'  listing isn't the same as selling

Only the insertion of the basic listing is free

when the item sells you are charged a 10% final value fee on the item price and the P&P paid

Also, if you add extras to your basic listings, such as buy it now, a reserve, a subtitle, or gallery plus you will incur fees which are payable even if the item doesn't sell. These fees are shown on the listing form, before you click 'list with displayed fees'

if you list during an 'offer' the offer is only valid for the first listing cycle, when the item auto relists the fees revert to the normal 10%

go to:-

my ebay >>> account tab >>> seller account >>> invoices

to see a break down of the ebay fees you have been charged.
