eBay has recently restricted my account

eBay has recently restricted my account, stating that:

Unfortunately, we have identified a possible discrepancy with the information you provided when you registered and need clarification. Until we can engage with you and resolve the question, your account has been restricted and we need to connect with you as soon as possible.

I have been with eBay since 2004, have 100% feedback and am recorded as an 'above average seller.'

I haven't moved house or changed my bank account details or email address.

I have a bank account linked PayPal account and have always done so since first registering with eBay.

I haven't listed an item for sale since Nov 19th 2013 and use eBay for purchases only.

High sales fees and bad publicity about eBay backing buyers against genuine sellers, means that I won't risk listing anything of any value for fear of being ripped off by a buyer and then finding that eBay backs them.

eBay now demand that I supply them with:

In order for us to review your account, we ask that you please upload the following information:
- A readable copy of your driving licence, front *and* back, or other government-issued ID
- A copy of a recent utility, mobile phone, or cable bill - Your name and billing address should be visible, and they should match the information registered to your eBay account.

Important:
- Make sure that your User ID appears on each document that you submit. If this information is not included, it cannot be processed.
- Be sure your submitted documents are current, valid, and legible.

I don't have a driving licence, or a current passport, my mobile is on Pay As You Go, and all utility bills are emailed in my husbands name.

When many years ago I had an eBay/Buyer/PayPal problem, eBay's customer service was worse than useless, certainly worse than any I'd previously experienced in my working life and judging by the comments on many forums, they haven't improved any.

I don't believe that eBay has discovered any 'possible discrepancy' in my account details, so am unsure why they've chosen to restrict my account.

I'd be interested in the views of the community.
