eBay Fee & Paypal Fees - Why 2 fees

HI - I sold 2 items on eBay for my son.  He sold one item for £110 and received £106.51 into my account through Paypal.  The other item he sold for £40 and received £38.54 into my account throughn Paypal.  I assumed the lower money was eBay fees but I have since received an email stating I owe £10.99 for the first item and £4.00 for the second item for eBay and that it will be automa=tically deducted from my account on Friday.  Does anyone know was the lower amount because Paypal deducted money originally and this other higher second amount is for eBay?  Quite a shock - Can anyone advise please?  Thank you.  Kevi

You pay 2 fees, paypal decuct their cut 12.9% + 30p, when buyer pays.

Ebay invoice you monthly for their 10% fee.

This is all changing as ebay are moving all sellers to MP, no more paypal,

Ebay pay money into your bank after deducting fees, 12.8% + 30p.

Unless you are on managed Payments,Paypal deduct their fee of 2.9% + a fixed fee of 30p, ebay then invoice their fees monthly, the Selling Fee is 10%.

When on Managed Payments, there will be no Paypal fee, but ebay deduct 12.8% + 30p. Any extra fees such as reserves which are payable as soon as listed will still be invoice monthly.

Fees should never come as a surprise, surely they are one of the first things any seller should find out before listing.
