I'm told that I 'don't have permission to access "http://www.ebay.co.uk/cnt/ReplyToMessages?" on this server.'
I am simply replying to a buyer. What is the obstacle?
I've searched for stray characters such as " or / , which could confuse a computer. I've not exceeded the 2000 character limit. I've not included a phone number or anything personal (besides names of course), I've signed out and back in - and I cannot see any logical reason for being locked out. I've certainly had nothing but good vibes and feedback from this buyer. I give it up... Help, anyone?
Answering my own question once again, for anyone who may be reading this experiencing the same problem, I will give the solution I found that worked.
I still don't know why I was unable to reply to the message, unless possibly the whole string of messages had exceeded some unseen character limit (though I didn't receive any such warning or message).
However, I felt an urgent need to reply to the buyer so I circumnavigated.
I found the buyer's feedback number, clicked on that, went to 'Contact Member' and sent the message - fortunately I had saved it so was able to copy-paste it. Sorted - hooray. But I still don't know what the hangup was. Ebay is a machine, sure, but it should still be able to respond to any problem with a message in English, I would have thought!
Looking at all the possibilities, I just checked to see that I haven't exceeded the limit for number of messages sent. In the last 24 hours (or more, counting today and the whole of yesterday), I have sent 9 messages. This failed one would have been the 10th. (I'm sure I've sent more messages than that to random people in one day, but am I limited to 9? No message has so far appeared to tell me so.)
All these messages were concerning items I've either bought (or bid on) or sold. I'm not spamming and I'm not - let me check - er . . . no, I'm not a robot. Ideas, anyone?
Wow - only now do I get a message! ... "The question you're trying to answer is either invalid or older than 90 days. You can't respond to questions older than 90 days.'' ...
Ah, "9th July 21". I make that 15 days. So that isn't the problem.
