I ordered a craft item and when it arrived, it was the wrong thing. They sent me something I would never use. They offered a partial refund but, since it was their mistake and I also don't like what they sent me, I asked to return it.
They said would I be happy if they let me keep the item they sent in error and then they will send me the correct item. No refund.
As I would very much like the thing I sent for, I would like to do this. However, ebay will consider the whole matter closed at that point. What happens if they never send me any replacement?? (It has happened to me before and I didn't know how to resolve it). I can't open another 'dispute' because ebay considers it was dealt with to my satisfaction. The latest ebay will keep the case open for is the beginning of April - but the item is coming from China and could take a month or two. What then?

You open a Not As Described Case and after 8 days escalate to ebay.
You will have to return the wrong item to China which may cost more than the item itself.
If you do this go for a Refund, any promised replacement will never arrive.
You should always consider these sort of problems before buying from China, it may be cheap but in the long run, you would do better buying in the UK, preferably from a local shop where if there was a problem you could take it back.
Yo should also bear in mind that items fom China may not be up to UK requirments/standards and can be dangerous.
