Why eBay is charging VAT on the postage for items sending outside UK? I understand VAT on the items but charging VAT for international postage is unfair. We are paying postage from Royal mail which is based in UK & ebay not suppose to charge for buyers.
e.g. We have put Postage & Packaging charges of £3.50 for EU & Worlwide.
Before 01st July 2021 eBay used to deduct the fees from the seller from £3.50 but from 01st July eBay is charging from the customer on P&P too i.e. they have to pay now £4.17 instead of £3.50
It's ripp off for EU buyers for charging VAT on postage, due to high prices we have Zero sales on 01st July.
I guess it works in the same way pre-Brexit when, if we bought something from the US or any non EU country, VAT was charged on the item price and the postage price.
That's just how it's levied.
eBay pass the VAT onto HMRC.
