Dear eBayers, Seller and Buyers,
I both buy and sell on eBay. I know both side well. I wonder why eBay protects buyer much more than sellers?
I find it unfair when you sell, a buyer can open a case next day of purchase saying item doesn’t arrive - how it could arrive if it’s just sold and the stated delivery time is 5-6 working days? Another example when you set that there is no return accepted on your items, but the buyer opening a case and asking for return just because the clothing doesn’t fit however all the information of sizeing was available prior to purchase. All cases eBay protect buyers more. As a seller you need to prove you are right, otherwise you are in trouble, moreover unfortunately some buyer gives you negative feedback if you don’t do what they want even if you were right... as a seller you can’t give negative ever, again you can only fight for your right, maybe deal with eBay customer services asking to remove any inappropriate or unfair feedback but that’s it. What if you sell and the buyer doesn’t pay? Nothing happens. You can send payment reminders, after few days you can open a case but obviously you’ll never get paid for the item and you won’t be able to give negative feedback for non-paying buyers, which is unfair on sellers. Bad sellers has negative feedback, any buyer can easily see, straight away if you click on feedbacks. Non-paying buyers you can not really see because they have only positive feedback, looks like they are OK but obviously not. Where is the equity then between buyers and sellers?
Not mentioned if a buyer opens a case the money is unavailable on your account straight away the case is opened, and stays unavailable until the case closes. Another side if you sold something but the buyer doesn’t pay nothing happens. Nobody takes the money from the buyer’s account to cover the product they ‘bought’ and of course nobody will give the seller any compensation while loosing opportunity to sell the item for real, paying customer while dealing with the non-payment.
Sorry Guys if that was too harsh but more and more people trying to misuse ebay’s buyer protection and during the past few years I’ve noticed that sellers are less protected than buyers. I can not understand why? Sellers pay high fees to eBay to use the site and sell but sometimes I really feel it’s not worth selling my preowned but branded things for peanuts in here because of the above, would be just easier to gift to Charity.
As a buyer I repect sellers, and I never make a complaint or asking for refund without genuine reason. I read description and I do ask sellers before I buy if I’m unsure. Sounds simple. Isn’t it?
