couriers charge more to deliver to the Scottish Islands so seller block them
Royal Mail does not surcharge for delivery to remote regions, but is more expensive than budget couriers.
Buyers look for lowest price delivery, so to remain competetive and avoid bad ratings for high delivery charges many sellers now use couriers.
Unfortunately most couriers surcharge for delivery to remote areas. It wouldn't be so bad if buyers who live in these areas understood and accepted this, but we often hear from sellers who have experienced bullying and threats from irate buyers.
Many sellers just find it easier to block bids from buyers in these regions.
I believe with some couriers they charge a premium to send to the Highlands and Islands, and sellers therefore have chosen on their site preferences not to post because of the cost.
I only sell light small items so have no probelm as the cost is the same for all over the UK, however, for larger items I believe the cost can rise consderably, with some postal services.
