Why did ebay remove negative feedback I left for seller, but didn't even tell me they did this??!

Since ebay is damn impossible to get answers these days - sometimes I just want to close my account & tell ebay to get stuffed forever - please community tell me why negative feedback I left for a seller has been removed & ebay being the jerk they are, didn't even tell me they removed it!

Since you can't trust ebay ratings and feedback anymore, I also left a negative review of the company on Google, to warn prospective buyers.  I think it sucks that ebay is so dishonest that they can't let negative feedback be left for a seller and their sneaky, not telling the buyer they have removed it.

BTW I didn't break ebay policy, I bought a stuffed toy from a company which advertised it as 8 inches in size but it was actually 6.5 inches when it arrived.  When I contacted the seller about it, they had a bad attitude saying all the other feedback they receive is positive (mind you, they sell a range of items and all the feedback is listed as private, so nobody can see what item was purchased).  Anyway, in my neg feedback I said exactly this (the problem with the size) and that they had a bad attitude on response.  That's it.

Sellers can't have private Feedback, otherwise what point would there be in leaving good or bad.

There are many reasons why feedback will be removed, one which could be the reason is if a negative is out of keeping with all other feedback received.

In any case the correct procedure would have been to open a Not As Described Case to get a Full Refund. That can be expensive for the seller as they have to provide a reply paid label (if they in the UK) and on return make a full refund. You don't need to communicate and feedback should then be left based on how efficiently the seller dealt with the error.

That is more likely to make seller realise that mistakes cost money than any amount of feedback.

I must say that if you have enjoyed using ebay in the past that this is rather a petty thing to close your account over.
