Automated 'assistants' when failing to resolve simple matters passing on to a colleague for help, turns out to be another auto bot.
MEssages state contact details are at the bottom of 'help' pages is just to another automated 'assistant' or chat (if / when it works /doesn't just give;
As you were browsing eBay, something about your browser made us think you were a bot. There are a few reasons this might happen:
)
Why is it too much to ask of Ebay to provide easilly finadable telephone contact numbers for an actual help desk, or doesnt ebay employ humans any more to provide actual help (let's mention diversity and inclusion) assuming the aim is to actually assist users?
Do you really need to call eBay?
The answer to most issues can be found on the eBay Help pages.
Some CS advisers are in the Philippines, where English is not their first language so they may not fully understand your issue.
They read from a pre-prepared crib sheet, giving what they think is their best answer.
If you give some details of your issue here someone will probably give you a better answer sooner than eBay CS anyway.
Ebay in its wisdom has decided to lock my account for 'unauthorised access' which is their missinterpretation because I use a VPN for security reasons.
The only way ebay were electronically offering to enable resetting my password is to be sent a code via sms, however I'm currently in an area with no signal, doh. I understand the EU direction on 2FA but this does not mean/have to be via a mobile, indeed should not make it the only option as not everyone needs or wants a mobile, also any recovery systems should be conceived with the possibilities that a mobile may not always be in service.
The less than helpful chat assistant gave me a number to call with a 1 time code, however the number was to an automated 'service' a) which did not recognise the 1 time cose, b) could not address the problem and on c) passimng me to a ebay 'colleague to help further'...
This 'colleage' was another automated system which was of less use / help than the first and a dead end.
Hence the need to speak with and actual person who could understand the problem outside of the auto bot scripts.
Then the search for a number to get such human help for the problem that Ebay have caused, under the pretence of security.
The Least ebay could do would be to allow dialogue between who/what has decided that 'unauthorised access' has occured and why / based on what. And the automated 'you can find contact information at the foot of most help pages' fails to add that we won't actually provide a useful contact number, for the old addage 'its good to talk'..
I eventually got a number from teh web, no thanks to ebay who seem to have arranged to avoid providing such basic contact courtesies.
