Warning

Hi, is there a way of warning prospective bidders that an item is incorrecctly listed.  A motorbike is listed as having only 15000 miles but a DVLA MOT check reveals it is at least 76000 miles.  I have messaged the seller twice as it may be a genuine mistake but I have received no replies.  Dave

If it is a bike that you are interested in how would the price reflect the extra 60000 odd miles?  Is it apparently a private seller?  If business then = misrepresentation

The fact that the hasn't acknowledged my questions means I will not be bidding on his listing. If he fails to give the correct mileage what else might he be hiding?!!!

The seller is unlikely to want to own up to misrepresentation,so not suprised there not answering.

Anyone like yourself will check before buying,but sadly many will fail to do so,which is what the seller wants

No, there isn't any way to warn other users. It's up to them to make their own enquiries before bidding.

You can try reporting it to eBay, but it's most unlikely they will take any action.

There are so many serious, criminal scams in the motors section that a false mileage claim almost pales into insignificance.

I couldn't find an appropriate reason in the report an item list. I wasn't sure if I was just meddling where I shouldn't be but it's something I came across while looking for a new bike. Not all buyers would check the DVLA site.

There is report a listing on all listings to the right part way down the page
Whether ebay would do anything is doubtful and they done see the item or take notice of one report

It really is up to all buyers to do all the appropriate checks before paying for a motor.

I hope it's just an error and not a deliberate lie but the fact that the seller hasn't replied or amended the listing makes me wonder. A shame as it was a bike I was interested in.
