I have won an auctioned item and paid by Paypal for the item plus the postage costs of £3.25. The item was not delivered but I received a Post Office card asking for £3.00 postage costs. On collection from the sorting office there was no stamps or postage paid label on the package (a bin bag). The seller says that they have proof of posting and will not accept liability for the extra fee. Their last mail said that they would send me the proof of posting as it is not their responsilbility to make a claim. I have contacted Ebay about this but their call centre did not seem able to grasp the problem and the resolution centre has no option available for this problem as the item does not need to be returned . Any experience or ideas on this please?
There is no case that you can open for this issue, it is entirely between you and the seller. If the seller has not sent you a copy f the proof of posting then simply leave appropriate feedback but do not mention eBay, Paypal, dispute or report as these are grounds for removal. Do not threaten the seller with feedback unless they refund you, that can also be reported.
If this happens again, don't collect the parcel unless the seller sends you the fee first - it will be returned to the seller and you can then open a case for non-receipt to recover your money.
