Told I'd won - and then I hadn't

I was bidding on an item and I won the item. A minute later as I was looking at the bidding history list a message appeared saying I'd been outbid and that they had one. But this only happened after I had actually won. Seems really unfair! Anyone have any advice?

Outbid messages can't always be sent in real time, especially when there is a flurry of last minute bids. Listings can easily have ended by the time  you receive them.

If you look at the bidding history, you are sure to find that you were outbid before the lisitng ended. Many buyers specialise in "sniping", i.e. bidding at the last possible moment. This is entirely legitimate; all bids received before the deadline, to the second, count.
