The buyer has asked me to send the item he has won at auction to an address which is different from his usual registered ebay address. Should I refuse?
Yes you should refuse. Sending to a different address will void your seller's protection on the sale. The time to ask for a different address should be before the buyer pays, and he can add the new address to the transaction.
Definitely Not if it is the Lap Top that is a lot of Money to lose. You only Post to the Address which PayPal send you on the Confirmation Email. If you send it anywhere else you will have No Seller Protection.
You really need to Post using Royal Mail Special delivery to be fully covered against Loss or Damage in Transit. Standard Delivery by 48 Hour Courier is just not good enough. You would have a real fight on your Hands to get any Compensation. Couriers leave Parcels in Bins and on Door Steps. RM Special Delivery only Deliver to the Householder. If no one is Home they Return it to the Depot.
