I found a brand new tablet (as advertised) at reduced price that comes without its original box. I guess that's why the price is lowered but I'm not sure as to whether I should be suspicious? The seller has a 420 rating and I can't see any negative reviews. But I can't help wondering why is the box missing. Should I look past this and buy it? Price is 1/3 off retail price.
should be suspicious?
You should be suspicious of everything on eBay. Especially apparently "too good to be true" bargains.
The seller's good feedback may be encouraging, or it may be misleading. What you're looking for is a consistent record for selling similar items, including recent sales. An account that hasn't been used for months and is suddenly selling bargain tablets may have been hijacked. Ditto an account which previously sold only cheap everyday items but is suddenly selling high end items. EBay is a jungle, there are scams everywhere.
If you're confident, you do of course have the added protection of eBay's money back guarantee, see: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html Read the conditions, exclusions and time limits carefully. Remember that a scammer will know all about the conditions, whereas most buyers don't. This is why so many get tricked into throwing away their rights.
Lastly, don't forget the the risks don't end with the purchase. Sellers; guarantees on eBay are only as good as the seller, and manufactuers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought here. You will get no help from eBay after their 30 day money back guarantee expires. Never expect buying things on eBay to be like the shops.
Sorry we can't see the Listing. You can add the Item Number on here if you want to?
