Suspicious buyer

I have a buyer? Asked for my best price then without making an offer gave his PayPal email and asked for mine so he could "conclude the payment ASAP". Explaining I Take payment through ebay I will be overcharged with extra fees for selling with PayPal through ebay. I responded this is a cash on collection deal. Reply can't collect in person sending a courier. So I pointed out my obligation to ebay and gave two options for him to buy. Have courier pay with your cash or buy in conventional way through ebay. He just cut and pasted his former message. Is this buyer just unintelligent or trying to scam me?

Especially if its the motorbike - you are being set up to be scammed and this buyer is clearly asking to deal outside eBay.

Never respond to these type of messages just block them.

Sounds like the start of a classic SCAM ... you stand to lose the Motorcycle and payment if you continue down the 'off eBay'/PayPal/Courier collection suggestions offered and the Bike will be long gone before the deal is found to be fraudulent.

Stick to > Cash on Personal Collection (or cleared/confirmed Bank Transfer to your Bank account) before handing over keys and documents to the 'Buyer' in person (No Courier or 3rd person collection is advised  ... there is No payment protection offered for Vehicles no matter how payment is made.)

He's encouraging you to break the user agreement and scam eBay by evading payment of their fees. For that alone both of you could have had your accounts suspended.

Whether he's stupid or criminal hardly matters. In your position I would place him on your blocked bidders list, and report him to eBay here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/payment-policies/offers-buy-sell-outside-ebay-policy?id=4272

Probably a scam.

Have they actually purchased this item?

If they have and send a courier then if there is no cash on collection,  you do not hand over the item.

If they have not purchased the item,  I would block them asap.
