Today I received a suspicious email from 'eBay for Business' <contact@forbusiness.ebay.com> which was titled 'myusername, your account is at risk: Upload valid VAT information'
The email included my correct username, full name and obviously my email address. At the bottom of the message it tried to reassure me with 'The fact that your first and last name appear in this communication serves as proof that this communication actually comes from eBay'
I am pretty sure this was not a genuine email from Ebay as when I log on to my account in Ebay it isn't in my messages. I didn't click on any of the links and forwarded a copy to spoof@ebay.co.uk and report@phishing.gov.uk
What concerns me is that Ebay's systems seem to have been hacked to enable a fraudster to obtain user details. Has anyone else had this email and if it is a phishing email does anyone know how to report this issue to get it investigated?
it is a phissing email
You are right that all ebay messages will come through on your My ebay messages not just through your personal email address
Dont click on any links and if you have change your password straight away
Forward to spoof@ebay,co.uk then delete
it's not from ebay,
if you clicked on any links change your passwords ASAP
