Stopping payments going through Pay Pal

We do not have an account with Pay pal, and choose to pay by card. Items are paid in full and there is no financial account with Pay Pal; but apparently it is linked to E Bay, so how do we stop E Bay sending the details to Pay Pal allowing them to access our bank account?

If you don't have a paypal account, and you don't need one if you just buy, then all the involvement paypal will have is as set out in the other reply. There is nothing you can, or need to, stop.

Things have become very complicated since eBay started to roll out its new managed payments scheme.

Under the old system, you paid the seller direct. if you paid by debit or credit card, eBay processed this through Paypal to pay the seller. If your seller is not yet on managed payments, this is how your card payment will still be processed, and will explain PayPal's involvement. (It does have the advantage that your purchase may be covered by Paypal's buyer protection policy.)

For sellers who have been moved onto managed payments, buyers now pay eBay direct. If they pay by credit or debit card eBay processes this and then pays the money, less their fees, into the seller's bank account. I wouldn't have thought Paypal was involved in this at all. Although someone may know better - it's all very new!
