Split payments option

Can anyone explain what this split payments option is, you come across at the checkout and what's in it for the seller to chose this option please? Personallly, i don't like it or apprehensive about it

Wisdom is that if you in some way split a payment [and like @pixiesen2012 I have never heard of it] then the eBay/Paypal protection goes.

I'm just wondering if this new payment option Ebay has started means that the seller can chose to have payments made directly through Paypal as the normal or now you have the choice to go through Ebay? I'm just guesing here, if someone can explain it better, but all I know is, when I tried to pay for all my items at checkout, it said "This seller has selected other payment options, so this may effect your checkout if you have a voucher" or words to that effect.

so, it is to do with using a voucher, splitting the payment between a voucher and money,

nothing to do with ebays managed payments

No, its got nothing to do with vouchers. There must be someone whose bought off Ebay and seen this 'payment option' at the checkout and uses Paypal only for purchases in the last 3 weeks or so...
