Something wrong in conversion rates

Hi

I purchased an item from a Chinese Seller at a cost of $989.00 USD. The rate coverter to UK £s said £697.81 which I paid immediately. During the payment process a screen came up with a value of £731.00, which caused me to Google the Current exchange which gave a figueof £698.07 so, I was happy with the slight variation. Two day later, the Paypal payment has cleared at £731.00, anyone got a clue why this is?

Paypal rates are higher than standard rates.

Using X-Rates,very similar to your result

BUT using Paypal rates much closer to your actual charge when adding the conversion fee as well

You have probably overlooked the currencey conversion charge that all financial instutions apply when purchasing an item from abroad.
