Sold but could not complete

My question is can I find old messages from as far back as January this years I need to make contact with a buyer I was unable to complete the sale with because I had lost the item I have now found it and wanted to tell him it's available. My main concerned was that he might have thought I had just said I couldn't find it because it went for the list price

 Have you tried the search option to the righthandside of your ebay message section.Possibly still available in your private email addy if you havent cleared it out.
