Ebay clearly advertise the buyer protection policy, but there is no mention of seller protection. Why not? Because there doesn't appear, at least in my experience, to be any.
Any dispute seems to favour the buyer and not the fee paying seller.
There is never an option for dispute, only to close the case by refunding the buyer, even if they are clearly in the wrong.
And don't get me started on paying fees on postage costs.............
Why not
Because, as you rightly say, almost all the protection on eBay is for the buyer.
Even when eBay claims that sellers are protected, in reality they're often not.
EBay says that money back guarantee claims cant be made just because the buyer has changed their mind. But all they have to do is to invent any supposed fault, and they can. EBay doesn't require any evidence.
EBay's stated policy is to support the buyer unless they can determine that the item was as described. In other words, as they never even see the item, dispoutes will be almost automatically decided in the buyer's favour.
EBay says that items must be returned in the condition received, but many sellers complain that they've been required to refund buyers who have damaged items themselves, or even switched them to return a completely different one.
If an item is delayed in delivery, eBay will require the seller to refund the buyer. But if the buyer then keeps both the refund and the item when it arrives, eBay does nothing to require them return one or the other.
EBay simply doesn't seem to care about the seller. This has become a very risky place to sell things.
