Isn't it about time a search filter was added that allows a buyer to see which of the sometimes hundreds of sellers of a particular item offers the fastest delivery and/or dispatch times? The Fast'n'Free concept shows eBay recognise that as well as price, speed of delivery is a significant factor in a buying decision, but they seem to be a bit slow in applying that same recognition to the search engine functionality. All the required data is there already in the listing, so it's simply a case of programming.
Following up on post below (is there a way of replying?) I agree eBay would need to be careful they're not making a rod for their own back, but they're happy to generate an 'Estimated Delivery' when viewing a listing in detail, which makes a calculation based on 'usual' dispatch turnaround plus 'usual' postage/shipping timeframe, but that only becomes visible to the potential buyer once they've opened the full listing. Wouldn't it be more efficient if eBay could save the potential buyer from having to do that for every single listing, and currently two sellers of an identical item will be given equal standing in search results if their price is the same, but if one offers a faster dispatch then shouldn't that listing be given a 'better' standing?
In the case of the UK, eBay's push to persuade sellers to offer Free P&P has resulted in most listings having the cheapest i.e. slowest postage option i.e. 2nd Class as the standard, but the listing can still include a 1st Class option but that's currently invisible to a buyer until they view the listing in full. Wouldn't it be better if that could be filtered at the search level, for both buyer & seller?
