Hi Community,
Just hoping someone could shed some light on a potential scam I've not come across before as it's a little concerning.
I have just received an email with the name eBay offer as the sender, upon inspecting the actual sender's email it is 'petertxxxd@outlook.com'. It has within the body an eBay page with featuring an item I am currently selling, with the bidders ID, also 'petertbird' stating they have made an offer when there is no mention of said offer within my account itself.
There is also a 'respond' button which takes you to an 'eBay' looking login page but the web address is actually: https://www.register6518.co.uk/ebay.co.uk/offer?pid=4028938725&_parms=ispr%3D1&hash=item11eb8be736:g...
My question is, how has someone managed to obtain my actual email address & know what I am selling without some type of eBay data breach - as I was under the impression that all correspondence must be done through eBay & to have an email sent directly to my address from the email of 'petertxxxd' obviously some type of phishing, there must be a link somewhere showing my items, my user ID & my personal email address.
I'm a tad confused. I was attempting to upload screengrabs but have just realised it has to hosted rather than inserted directly so hopefully the below links work...
Many thanks!
