Safe of very dodgy payment?

I've seen an item I'm interested in buying, but the I'm not happy about how the seller wants paying. All it says is by bank transfer,  No PayPal or use of a credir or debit card at Checkout. Once agreement to buy has been made the seller sends his bank details and you make the payment from your own bank direct to him. Does Ebay give me any protection with this? I suspect not..

On which eBay site is the seller?

Seller can't refuse paypal.

Except for German ebay, where you pay by bank transfer.

If it is a vehicle, no ebay protection or paypal,

YOU go in person & inspect vehicle, if happy pay on cash.

If collection item, again you go & inspect before paying in cash.
