I use eBay quite often to buy items that are otherwise hard to get hold of elsewhere. I always try to look for sellers based in the UK as I prefer to have the item delivered as quickly as possible - especially during the pandemic.
I ordered an item recently from a seller who assured me that they were based in London, UK and that the item would be dispatched from there. So I ordered the item (10th May).
Seller gave me a Hermes tracking number - which was fine as I've used Hermes many times in the past and despite have a relatively bad reputation, they've always served me well.
However, I noticed when I started to track the item on the 11th May that the Hermes tracking page was displaying my parcel status as " We've not got it". This has been the case from the 11th May until now. I spoke to Hermes and Ebay and was told that the parcel hasn't been recieved yet because the seller hasn't shipped it.
I've messaged the seller many many many times with specific questions I need answering like - Where was the parcel shipped from? What country are you based in? and in reply, all I get are messages like:
"Hi Friend, I will do my best to solve it. I checked tracking and shows that item is transporting normally. Logistics company confirmed that due to the new pneumonia pandemic, they have experienced a force majeure with too many parcels. Hope you wait 3-4 days more. Jacky"
I find the lack of good English very suspicious for a seller based in the UK. Each time I receive a message like the above one, someone different signs the message off - eg - Jacky, Leone, Marta etc etc. It's also clear that they are misleading and lying to me, HERMES never said that Covid is affecting my delivery. They confirmed to me personally (and eBay did too) that the parcel hasn't been recieved.
The sellers name is - carlossway2. They have pretty good feedback but the negative ones are quite concerning now that I've read them properly.
Any advice for me guys?
It really **bleep** me off when a seller professes to be based in the UK when actually they are on the other side of the world. There's no need to lie and mislead people like that.
This is eBay. You can't expect buying from unknown selelrs online to be like the shops.
It's always a good idea to check a seller's feedback page to see where your seller is registered. In fact, the seller you named is UK registered. (Very often, items located in the UK are actually being sold by sellers in China.)
If items don't arrive on time or are not as described you can use eBay's money back guarantee, see: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebay-money-back-guarantee/
As the seller is in the UK they would be required to send you a prepaid retuen label for items returned under eBay's money back guarantee.
