Bought an item unknowingly form China, listed price + VAT so assumed UK. I need to return but postage cost is £21.65 for an item that cost £31.99.
Anyone else have this problem and what did you do! Thinking it may be time to start using Amazon instead of Ebay?
Don't imagine that the same thing can't happen on Amazon. Many buyers never read the seller's t&c for returning faulty items if shipped from abroad. It is SO IMPORTANT to understand who you're buying from and where they are located.
It would have helped a lot to explain why you want to return this item. In short, if it doesn't match the description it's covered by eBay's money back guarantee. What was the item location stated in the listing? Quite often sellers in China have a distribution base in the UK. If so,eBay will require the seller to send you a prepaid return label. This isn't available for international returns and you may have to pay for it, if it's worth the cost.
If it's a change of mind return you will have to pay the return postage anyway, although I would hope it would only be to the UK if the seller has a base here. This assumes of course that the seller accepts change of mind returns, which being in China they don't have to.
Buying from unknown sellers online is NOT like the shops, especially when things go wrong.
