Returning an item that was collected in person.

I bought an item, which was damaged, the damage was not shown in the photos or in the description. I had paid by PayPal and a friend collected it in person.  The seller eventually agreed to a refund and eBay sent me a postage label for the return, but it was unusable because of the size and weight of the item. I have contacted the seller, but they are not replying. Any ideas, please ? Many thanks.

You say a friend collectied the item.

The fact a third party collected on your behalf means that you have lost any access to the ebay money back guarantee.Items are onlt eligible if collected by the actual buyer.

Thank you for your answer.

However, the seller has agreed that there was a split in the wood of the
chair I bought. It was neither mentioned in the description nor shown in
photo, she says it was. I certainly wouldn't have bought it if I had known.
So, it was already damaged before my friend picked it up.

Therefore, there is no argument that it was damaged after the seller had
handed it over.
