Returned package

I sold an item and dispatched it to Portugal in March.

 

Last week I received the item back and the tracking details state that the package was refused by the recipient.

 

I have had no subsequent contact from the buyer, what would be the appropriate action to take?

Funny but just answered a similar question.

 

In my opinion it is up to buyer to make the next move and perhaps offer an explanation.

 

Do not try to get Ebay involved as they would probably refund but leaving you with no refund of selling fee.

 

Only refund through a case if opened by the buyer, then you get selling fee refunded. Do not try to cancel as that needs buyer's approval, and bear in mind that whatever you do the buyer can still leave feedback.

Do nothing unless you hear from the buyer. If they open a not received case you will have to refund. If they don't, you don't have to refund.
