I have been waiting for an item that did not arrive (to date at least) and I wanted to raise an item not received claim, but the option to do so seemed to no longer be available.
The time frame for raising the claim is still extant, so I don't know what is going on, but the website seems to have changed slightly in this regard recently, so maybe a glitch of some sort (quite likely, as the site is full of weird operational "gremlins").
Instead, I saw no other option than to raise a return, which isn't correct, but I need to protect my money some way.
I need a way to change the return into a "not received" so as to help the seller and make sure they do not lose any fees. The seller has been helpful and is not responsible for the situation.
Customer service doesn't seem to understand the situation, maybe a language barrier thing, but I just get the patronising "don't worry, your money is safe with the eBay money back guarantee" scripted response. That's great, but I need to speak with someone who is independently minded and can think outside the box.
The question is, how do I go about it?
eBay do have to change it manually but getting them to understand that is another thing. All I can offer are the links to contact them. Live chat and phone options are at the bottom of this:

I suppose you just have to persist until you get someone who knows what to do. Good luck.
