I would like to buy something that is fragile which the seller has listed as collection only to avoid risk of transit damage. After appropriate discussion, can I formally take on the risk of damage through ebay procedure i.e. no risk to the seller, or would this have to be a gentlman's agreement. The item is not costly.
If you go and collect the item, then you inspect it fully, before agreeing to pay preferably, cash on collection, You cannot claim for any damage later, when you are home. If you see it is damaged on inspection, you walk away and do not pay.
If it has been agreed to be posted to you and it arrives damaged you can claim for a full refund under eBay's 30 day MBG, opening a case for item not as described from the Resolution Centre.
It is a seller's full responsibility to pack an item carefully for postage so it arrives in good order.
