Reporting potentially stolen items

i have had communication with seller who has indicated they have a purchase receipt for an item I was interested in buying. When I asked for a photo of the receipt they ignored me. It's seems to be impossible to report this to eBay. How can it alert them to this potentially stolen item?

You can't. There will be literally millions of "potentially stolen" items on eBay.

If you see or buy an item on eBay that is stolen, eBay's advice is to contact local law enforcement immediately.

There is no point in trying to report it to eBay itself. EBay is not a law enforcement authority. They have liaison arrangements for the police to contact them.

Not all sellers will have original receipt.

If you buy the item & there is a problem when it arrives, you are covered by ebay MBG.
