Report item damaged

I'm in the UK & sold an item which has now been reported as damsaged in transit, more than a week after it was delivered. 

 

The buyer  (also in UK)  is now requesting to return it & get a full refund.

 

Is there any time limit for reporting an item as damaged?

 

I thought 48 hours would be sufficient?

The buyer has 30 days to open a dispute on ebay and all problems should be done that way.

The buyer needs to open a not as described dispute and you send a pre paid label for the return

Once you have it back you refund in full.

If it was damaged in the post you can then claim off the courier or Royal Mail 

You have to deal with it as if the buyer escalates to ebay you will pay the fees and a defect on your account.

 

There is a long list of items that are not covered for compensation
