Purchasing a counterfeit item on ebay

Hello everyone i would just like to start with the fact hat i have never purchased a counterfeit item on ebay before but as the saying goes if something looks too good to be true then it ususally is,So i have gone and purchased an item on ebay and usually this would probably go for around £350-£500 i guess purchaing it in a store but i just bought it brand new for £62 so my question is,What happens once it arrives and i can confirm that it is indeed counterfeit as the item i have purchased i can check on the brands website to confirm its authenticity and so do i send it back and ask for a refund or do i contact ebay first

kind regards

You don't do either. EBays procedures are autometed. You open a case under eBay's money back guarantee, through the resolution centre: http://resolutioncentre.ebay.co.uk/

A case must be opened within 30 days after the actual or latest estimated delivery date. If the seller wants the item to be returned, eBay will enable them to send you a prepaid return label (this may not apply if the item location was outside the UK). After 8 days the option will appear to escalate the case for eBay to step in, if necessary. If still unresolved, escalate it, and don't agree to close the case before you have your refund.

eBay policy is clear....return through a not as described case for a refund........even if counterfeit.....otherwise everyone could claim an item was not genuine in order to keep the item & get a refund

If you have prucased this within 30 days of that item's last estimated date for delivery,  then you are covered under eBay's 30 day MBG for a full refund.

Open a case for item not as described in the Resolution Centre link at foot of most pages.  Escalate on days 9 - 21 if not refunded beforehand.

If the seller wants their item back first,  they pay for that fully tracked return label.  The item has to be sent back,  even though counterfeit,  as then,  all buyers could use that excuse,  keep an item and claim a refund.

Do not close the case early,  and do not forget to escalate.
