Potential Scam / Fraud - why do Ebay make it so hard to contact them?

There have been 4 parcels arrive at my dads house with my name on them.

All them are ebay 'Returns' from different purchasers for items which I have never listed / sold and I've never had my dads address on my ebay account.

So someone must be fraudulently using details they bought somewhere for me and then selling items which are then returned to that address.  Find it all bizarre and cant figure out the model of how it works yet.

I have the slips the purchases added to the 'returns' with Ebay item number/order number etc. But cant find anyway to contact Ebay to tell them this.  When I search for the item number nothing shows.

I have reported this to Police fraud team in UK to get a crime number in case there is something dodgy going on.

If a member returns using the label provided through ebay and tracking shows as delivered, they can still get their refund.

There are so many report of this happening, but no corresponding increase in complaints of buyers not being refunded. While it feels and sounds like a scam if buyers are still getting refunds I can't see how it works or how a scammer benefits.

Just be wary of anyone calling to collect parcels sent in error.

You say a search for the item reveals nothing? They should show in COMPLETED ITEMS which you have to click down the left side of the page when the initial search page comes up.

Neither can I. So many other members are experiencing the same thing that there must surely be some devious plan behind it? There are endless theories, but few facts. It does seem to have coincided with the introduction of managed payments - and so has the number of complaints about being charged twice. Could eBay's system be flawed? Who knows.

EBay itself has done nothing to expand it's customer service, in fact the reverse has occurred during the pandemic. Instead, these questions keep on pouring into this community board. As ordinary members we have neither the time nor the information to answer them all.
