Posting an item

I'm a first time seller , and have just dispatched my first ever sale item to a buyer via Royal Mail. Do I have to inform ebay that the item has been dispatched so that they can inform the buyer or what? Can't find any info about this in the Q & A section at all.

If you used an ebay-generated postage label the system will automatically show dispatched.    If you bought your postage at the post office you need to mark as dispatched on the dropdown menu on the right of the item on your sold page, or at the top of the actual ended listing.   Also add the tracking number from the receipt.

Mark the item as despatched from your sold section next to the item and upload any postal tracking numbers that are shown on the receipt.
