Postage and Packages

Hi

I am new to ebay and working myself into a tizz... I have just sold my first three items, I've been advised cash has been received and I have them ready to go but do I have to use the postage labels or can I just write on the envelope?  Sounds silly but I have stamps that I want to use up!

Help!

Hello

lets try and untizz you 🙂

Firstly, before you post anything you sign into your actual Paypal account to make sure the money is there.   Never just rely on an email as there are FAKE emails around.

As a new seller you may well have the blanket Ebay 21 day hold on your funds before they are released to you.   If you send your items tracked then the money can be released much sooner.

Saying the above, you cannot make a Buyer wait.    So long as the funds are in your Paypal and Paypal tells you that it is ok to post then you need to post the items out to the address on Paypal.

You do NOT have to print the Ebay labels.   Just write on the parcels yourself use your stamps but make sure that you have put the correct postage on when you take the items to the Post Office.   The cost depends a lot on size of the package nowadays so maybe best to check with the Post office before posting because Ebays postage calculator is often wrong 😞

Hope the above helps you 🙂

We are not Ebay, just other members like yourself trying to help.

You do not have to use ebays postage labels, you can wite the address yourself and use your stamps,

but first you need to make sure you have received the payments

Log into your paypal account.

What does it say in the 'payment status' column?

You may have to claim the payment

or confirm your email address.

If it says payment received safe to post or something similar you need to post the item.

If it says payment is by e-cheque you will have to wait for the payment to clear before you send your item.

If the payment isn't showing in paypal and you use different email addresses for ebay and paypal you will need to add your ebay email address to your 'profile' in paypal.

New and returning sellers are subject to a hold on the payments but they show in your paypal account as held.

Never post the item until you see the payment in your paypal account.

Hello,

You can use your own stamps, but be sure you know the correct amount  you need.  It is better even then to take them to a Post Office to check, and they can issue you with a proof of posting .  If the item gets mislaid by Royal Mail, your need a POP to claim the amount back for yourself.  Remember only a tracked item, so an extra cost will prove a delivery of an item.

I have never used Ebay's postage labels, always gone to a PO to have them correctly weighed, stamped and to receive a POP for each item.
