Hey All,
I run a modelling and hobby store and decided to start selling through ebay to help tick over stock.
I listed a range of hobby knives. Just small handy little scalpel like knives thar are already very widely sold on ebay.
I sold a batch no problems. Got some more in and they got pulled due to knife policy. Spoke to a live chat advisor who said there had been an error and that he would relist them as the " computer " had markes it incorrectly. After this the listing went through no problems.
Now ive just got more in and have listed them only to be hit yet again with the same policy but this time more harsh saying we have warned you before on this and you account has been suspended for 3 days.
Is there anything i can do about this as its crippling my sales ?
Did you read the policy on prohibited items
Most knives are prohibited and it does say Craft knives are not allowed
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/knives-policy?id=5047
You should not list again as if you do ebay will do as they say and take more actions you can be restricted or removed
It won't change tecpolicy, BUT you are an unregistered Business Seller denying buyers their legal rights. You should register asap, before ebay notice this, as you are also avoiding their proper fees.
I am afraid that when you spoke to ebay CS you were told what you wanted to hear. Chances are that if there are others listed they are sellers outside the UK where rules are different.
Hey John,
Thank you for your reply.
This is all very new to me if im honest with you. I lost my job during lockdown and after seeing various videos, guides etc i thought id try and start a small store and see if it was viable.
Ive never sold on ebay before untill now so kinda doing this blind.
My passion is modelling and hobby so thought id try and see if i could do something along this line and see if it was worth it before i take the plunge so to say.
How do i change my store status? And what are the differences in fees ? If you could point me in the right direction it would be great.
Regards my issue. I have look on ebay prior to making this listing and can see so many uk sellers who have sold items along these lines for there intended use and in some case sold 100s. I understand what and why the policy stands but cant understand why other ppl are ok to sell these thats all
The advisor asked for examples and i provided them to him and he checked those before reinstating my listing last time.
