Phone number on address label

I've just received an item I bought a few weeks ago from the far east. Item appears fine. My concern is that my phone number is on the address label. This is surely a misuse of private information, and could be picked up by third parties. Has anyone else noticed their phone number on an address label? Is it illegal? My only consolation is that it is an old number which is no longer valid!!

I tried phoning ebay but kept getting disconnected so it was as productive as nailing jelly to a wall!

Yes, I have seen my phone number on an address label and I can't say that it's worried me particularly. I've supplied my phone number so that people using couriers (who usually want one) don't have to ask for it.

I don't imagine that it's illegal.
