How do I do a part payment by Paypal when the seller asks for a deposit with the balance as cash on collection. I know this is not recommended. I need to know in principle. I do not have a particular item in mind.
You don't.
Deposits are are not valid on ebay & you have no way to get refund if there is a problem.
You go & inspect item, & only pay in cash when happy.
If it is a car, you don't have any ebay protection anyway.
