New payment method via Ebay payment

I sold an item and was told by Ebay to post the item, the buyer expected to receive it, I told the buyer I had not received the money,  he said the money had gone from his account, I refused to send it until I received the money in my account.

After two days Ebay informed me that it was arranging to send my money and it could take up to four days for me to reeceive it,  no way will I release anything until the money is in my account.

At least with PayPal it showed up immediately,  I am not at all happy with this new payment system.

You dont seem to have grasped how the new managed payments work

The buyer pays and ebay takes the payment

You post when they say they have it

You cant wait until you get the money in your bank. It can take a few days especially if it is over a weekend or a bank holiday

Then once ebay have taken their fees then they put the remainder into your bank account

If you dont post the buyer can open a not received dispute and if you cant prove Delivered

you will have to refund possibly get bad feedback and a defect on your account

We all have to use this system now if we want to sell and it seems to be working OK

Rest assured I do grasp it, electronic payments are instant just as the payment is from the buyer to Ebay, Ebay take that instantly, the hold up for whatever reason is for Ebay to pass that payment on to the seller within the same time frame is a problem.

No one is happy having to wait for payment,

 but you still need to post item when ebay tells you buyer has paid, if you dont buyers will open item not received case and leave bad feedback.

Why does Ebay hang on for so long when electronic payment is instant - I am
left to guess its for several days interest across the board which amounts
to a considerable amount, how can you say I must post when Ebay tell me, I
wouldn't jump off a cliff if they told me to, if they want me to post, I
will when I have the money duly paid for the item.

The money will be with ebay if they say they have it. You can check the progress on the seller hub under payments.

Ebay can say they have it .... but I am the seller due the payment and I
have not been paid .... so on what grounds should I release the item, it
appears quite correctly there are three people in this arrangement ... the
buyer the seller and Ebay.... the buyer pays Ebay, but Ebay hangs onto the
money and yet tells the seller to release or post the item, the seller
loses possession of the item, the buyers happy he's paid and received it,
Ebays happy its got the funds for my item. I however have to wait... why
... its an electronic age ... I can stand next to someone and using my
phone transfer money instantly into their account ..... not three or four
days later ..... instantly.

Ebay site ebay rules. That is how it works and if you dont like it then you dont have to sell on ebay. It is policy that if ebay say they have the payment then you have to post. No use arguing about it as we cant change anything even if we wanted too. I sell and am in exactly the same position as you are but I am posting the items and have received the money even if it takes a little while.
