Hi, I have entered a bid for a car , and I'm the highest bidder so far , but if I do win I can not get insured for the car .

I have asked the seller to cancel my bid . But with no reply ? There are 6 hrs till auction ends,  and now I'm stuck with a car that I can't insure ??  I will have to have it transported and then stored untill I can sell it again , and I can't afford that . Any advice please.

The other option is do nothing, you may get an unpaid item strike, but one won't hurt and they expire after 12 months.

adding to papso22 advice -

There's the possibility that once the seller closes the unpaid case they could contact eBay and ask them to further sanction your account on the basis of auction wrecking because of your 171 bid retractions.

@plpmr  How the heck do you add a comment on here? Just spent a good 5 minutes trying, had to give up in the end. No, quite right I didn't see the 171 retractions, and I take back my advice to the OP.

That wasn't me for your information?? My ex did that to my account , so
instead of your snide comments, find out the facts ? I didn't ask for help
so I could be ridiculed , I could have just left it , but I didn't, so
keep your snide comments to yourselves , and it is sorted now , because
someone has bid higher than me , so thanks for all your help, that was
absolutely useless .

I don't see any snide comments, just advice from us going by what we can see, which was that you have 171 bid retractions on your account which is excessive in the extreme. I thought I was advising a genuine member who didn't know how to retract a bid but it turned out not to be the case. I'm pleased your problem has been solved.

Like I said , I asked for help , not for people to go saying I've had 171 retraction when it wasn't entirely my fault , so instead of getting practical advice , all you have done is embarrassed me on here , like I said I could have just left it and said nothing ( I wish I had )  but my problem is no longer a problem,  and I won't be asking advice again ? Sent from my Galaxy

Others would not agree with me but I think you would be better off retracting your bid rather than causing the seller the uneccessary hassle if you do win the car.

Go to Help and |Contact at the foot of the page and search 'bid retractions' and choose the nearest reason to retract.

Unfortunately there are less than 12 hours left , so I am unable to retract
my bid ? I have emailed the seller and explained the situation,
unfortunately I've had no reply .

I bet when giving this advice you did not see the 171 bid retractions on the account.
