Why was it returned?

If you refused to pay customs fees, then you invalidate MBG.

If for another reason, open item not received case, escalate after 3 working days.

I may be wrong but i didnt think members in ireland are covered by the MBG?

No I was not contacted by customs or any body it was just returned by
post office same day it arrived there I contacted post office they said
documentation was wrong
